Types of access when installing breast implants

Periareolar access

The incision runs along the border of the nipple areola, the advantage is that due to the skin color and areola, the incision later becomes less noticeable. However, there is the possibility of damage to the lactiferous ducts, which may further affect the lactation process in breastfeeding.

Submammary access

The most popular access for most surgeons, since the incision is made in the natural fold under the breast and after healing the scar remains virtually invisible. The length of the incision is from 3 to 5 cm, depending on the volume of the implant to be installed. The advantage of access is that in this case the doctor is most comfortable to form the right implantation pocket, to separate the mammary gland from the muscle without damaging it.

Axillary approach

The incision itself must be carried out in the axillary crease. This access is more often used with endoscopic breast augmentation, because without the equipment to form the right pocket technically becomes much more complicated than in the two previous cases. Suture with this method is hidden in the axillary crease and almost invisible.

Will the scars remain after the surgery?

However, like all operations, lipofilling has some peculiarities. For example, for carrying out this procedure, the patient should have sufficient amount of its own adipose tissue. In addition, it should be understood that a small part of the fat is still absorbed and, possibly, in the future, an additional approach will be required. However, these factors can’t stop women, so lipofilling is very popular among Russian women.
